Mercy Watson series - Kate DiCamillo

While you may know DiCamillo from “The Tale of Despereaux,” I highly recommend scooping up her Mercy Watson series. It features “porcine wonder” Mercy, her doting owners, the Watsons of Deckawoo Drive, and stacks upon stacks of hot, buttered toast. My favorite characters are the blue-haired neighbors, sisters Eugenia and Baby. Sanjay found Leroy Ninker hysterical. We both thought Chris Van Dusen’s illustrations were a treat!

These are early chapter books, suitable for reading out loud to the preschool crowd, or for your early reader to read to you. Sanjay gives them 👍🏽👍🏽.
