“Namaha” - Abhishek Singh
The front cover of this beautiful book caught my eye. I thought this would be a lovely coffee table book; truly Singh’s illustrations require one to pore over them. But there was an added bonus which I discovered when I sat down to thumb through it. The prose accompanying each illustration, is almost poetic. He has selected some stories familiar to many of us - the churning of the ocean, or Ganga’s tumultuous descent onto Earth - but conveyed them with a lyrical style that is a pleasure to read. This is definitely a philosophical book, however it’s a great conversation-starter with the kids as they’ve taken turns picking it up to study the illustrations. Sanjay, my eight-year-old, particularly enjoys roaming through the pages on his own, and asking questions of new details he notices.
