“Harbour Street” - Ann Cleeves

 (DI Vera Stanhope book 6)

🪶 There are false trails and red herrings galore in this one! This book along with “The Glass Room” are my favorites so far in this series.

🪶 The murder victim was very interesting in HS. Margaret Krukowski lived in one place, on Harbour Street, for her entire adult life. She was active in good works in the community and local church. She was by no means a recluse, yet no one at all seems to know anything about her. She was a totally unobjectionable community member, praised even, but she was totally inscrutable.

🪶 Vera Stanhope must work quickly to uncover the victim’s background. It’s no easy task as her neighbors on Harbour Street, are either unwilling or unable to provide any information about Margaret. Without information about who she was, Vera cannot begin to determine why someone wanted her dead. For one thing is certain, despite being a benign pillar of the community, the victim posed a threat to someone!
