“Remarkably Bright Creatures” - Shelby Van Pelt

🐙 I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has an unusual premise, which I’ll let the back cover copy do the explaining. It’s equal parts contemporary fiction, relationship drama, fantasy, and mystery all rolled into one feel-good tale.

🐙 I highly recommend listening to it as an audiobook for the sake of the Marcellus narration alone. He is a world-weary captive of the aquarium, and regards humans from within his tank with haughty, logical, disdain. You will adore this character.

🐙 Then there’s Tova. Sweet, rational, Tova, will also find a place in your heart. Cameron, on the other hand, is a petulant, overgrown teenager, but shows glimmers of growing up. He’d be played by Chris Pratt if they ever dramatize this book.

🐙 My heart raced faster than if I was reading some kind of thriller as we approached the dénouement - I simply could not put it down.

🐙 No spoilers, but I love that the title doesn’t at all mean what you think it does!
