“Death of a Gossip” - M. C. Beaton
(Hamish Macbeth book 1)
🐟Hamish Macbeth is the amiable village constable of the remote village of Lochdubh, Scotland. He is unflappable to the point of languorousness which masks a sharp intellect. He is unbothered by others’ condescension, but also doesn’t hesitate to put them in their place. Hamish has a Poirot-level understanding of human nature.
🐟I really enjoyed this one! It’s a neat and tidy cozy mystery. All is explained satisfactorily, Hamish is an underdog constable worth rooting for, and their is plenty of drama between the suspects to keep things lively.
🐟I want to check out Beaton’s Agatha Raisin series as well. Luckily for lovers of cozy mysteries, she is a prolific author and each series has numerous novels.
