“Death of an Outsider” - M. C. Beaton

(Hamish Macbeth book 3)

🦞 Hamish finds himself banished to a neighboring village for a temporary assignment. Even I, who have yet to experience the splendors of the Highlands, could appreciate the stark contrast offered by Cnothan to the idyllic Lochdubh.

🦞Soulless Cnothan seems to drain the life out of friendly, even-tempered Hamish, rendering uncharacteristically grumpy and melancholy. By novel’s end, the reader is hoping the mysteries are solved without a moment to spare in order to speed up Hamish’s departure from that godforsaken village.
