Completely Unpaid Shout Out to Mrs. Wordsmith Products
I first purchased a set of Mrs. Wordsmith products in 2018 for Ashwin. At that time, the kit included 6 workbooks (themes: emotions, settings, actions, taste and smell, weather, and character), 6 corresponding word pair flashcard sets, and a storage binder. The very condensed premise is the company uses hysterical characters and zany illustrations to capture and hold onto children’s attention, and we introduce 1-2 words per day. Over time, the object is to slowly expose them to 10,000+ new and exciting words! It’s pretty cool and not daunting because these illustrations are so over the top. I soon bought a kit for Sanjay as well, and I think they had run a promotion at some point, so I grabbed one for Avi too. I’ve also purchased supplemental word packages over time for Ashwin and Sanjay.
Fast forward to yesterday. It’s summer vacation, and I was facing the dreaded summer brain rot. It was finally time for me to unbox Avi’s introductory Mrs. Wordsmith kit! Fair warning: this post isn’t meant to accurately reflect their *current* product offerings; nor is it a promotion, as I said, I bought these myself. But I am passionate about children’s literacy, and I love what Mrs. Wordsmith has done to make language and learning truly fun … and let’s be honest, hilarious, for kids! I wish you could hear the laughter in my living room yesterday.
The best, and most unexpected part? As Avi (rising 3rd grade) sat at the counter to work on his words of the day, his 15 year old brother, dug out his 6 flash card sets. How did he manage to hold on to them for so many years?! He’s got standardized test season looming (PSAT, SAT, etc). So he decided to dust off Mrs. Wordsmith flashcards for a little verbal prep! Brilliant idea IMO!
If anyone has questions on how to use these materials, please let me know. I’m a big fan as you can tell!
