“A Line to Kill” - Anthony Horowitz
(Hawthorne book 3)
🖌️ Clever plotting in this one! ALTK opens with details leading up to and including the opening of a literary festival in the Channel Islands. As faux-Horowitz notes, a reader of book 3 will not be surprised in the least by a sudden murder because they’d be expecting it as Horowitz wouldn’t be simply regaling them with tales of the lit fest circuit for no reason. It’s Horowitz’s clever way of breaking the fourth wall and winking at the reader.
🖌️ Hawthorne takes on a slew of self-righteous, deceitful people and he let’s them have it! Satisfying! This is my favorite in the series thus far.
