“The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” - Douglas Adams

 ⚠️ Don’t panic!

⚠️ I loved the Stephen Fry narration! I borrowed this  book from Amit years ago but I ended up putting it down unfinished. But Fry’s audiobook narration brought Adams’ wildly absurd galactic hijinks to life and I think that made the difference for me.

⚠️ After reading Vonnegut’s “The Sirens of Titan” I can definitely see his influence on Adams in this novel.

⚠️ Adams is known for his whimsical and irreverent, yet sharp satire. He delights in taking inane Earth problems like bureaucracy and taking them to the most extreme (yet logical) limits to produce outrageous consequences (reductio ad absurdum!) to show how detached such systems can become from reality.

⚠️ The entire novel satirizes humanity for our obsession with logic and efficiency, at the expense of common sense, empathy, and practicality.

In the era of AI, Mr. Adams’ commentary is even more valuable than ever. Even if sci-fi isn’t your thing (it’s not mine), I’d highly recommend this global cult classic!
