“I Feel Bad About My Neck and Other Thoughts on Being a Woman” - Nora Ephron
Ⓜ️ Attention, women of a certain age (i.e. the 40+ crew), this one’s for us! I adored this one, and highly recommend it as an audiobook read by Ms. Ephron herself. It’s dry, candid, and full of wisdom without an ounce of condescension. Plus, as you can imagine, Ephron’s life isn’t short on humor (she was, after all, a JFK White House intern long before she became a famous author).
Ⓜ️ The chapter on “maintenance” is so relatable!
Ⓜ️ Parenting insights were a treat; at once validating the emotional depth charges while recognizing the humor of the absolute lack of control of every parent desperately trying to exert their force of will.
Ⓜ️ The bag is important. It’s a metaphor of sorts. I loved a peek into the mindset of a self-professed NYC obsessive having always been a small town or big city adjacent dweller myself.
