“Agatha Raisin and the Witch of Wyckhadden” - M. C. Beaton

 (Agatha book 9)

🧪 It’s a mad caper, and not my favorite in the series, but certainly Aggie is true to form and dodges both a disastrous romantic entanglement and a sticky end all while somehow stumbling into the solution of yet another murder.

🧪 Unlike idyllic Carsely and its surrounding Cotswolds villages, Wyckhadden is a dodgy seaside resort. I felt bad for poor Aggie, waiting (quite literally) for her hair to grow out in such a depressing environment. It’s like when Hamish gets banished from Lochdubh. Beaton connects her protagonists to their villages so closely, that there’s an element of fish out of water when they’re exiled.

🧪 Aggie reminds me a bit of Vera Stanhope with her acerbic observations and bulldozer personality.
