“Ramona the Brave” - Beverly Cleary
(Ramona book 3)
👟 Clearly sets a gentle, realistic tone for Ramona’s world. She’s a first grader now, with an orderly, no-nonsense teacher. Readers can imagine the havoc this wreaks on a child with low impulsivity control.
👟 Fierce Ramona wages a series of small-scale battles. She experiences injustice, revenge, and consequences. For example, she gets her coveted own room only to learn to her dismay that she’s very afraid of the dark.
👟 Ramona has an overflowing cup of pride. It’s adorable. She is too stubborn to ask for help because this would mean admitting defeat.
