“Ramona’s World” - Beverly Cleary

(Ramona book 8)

💟 This one’s bittersweet for sure. RW is a gentle goodbye to a character who always felt real.

💟 A 4th grader now, Ramona is a little wiser, but still unmistakably herself. This final book doesn’t try to make her suddenly extraordinary. In classic Cleary style, RF captures the everyday moments of growing up: shifting friendships, flickering confidence, and the slow awareness that your world is bigger than you once thought.

💟 Ramona is still perceptive and earnest as ever, but now she’s learning that growing up isn’t about grand moments in the spotlight. It’s about empathy for others and finding your way when things don’t go exactly as planned.

💟 As a parent, this was a deeply satisfying farewell to a character who grew alongside my own kids. In the Ramona books, I found Cleary’s tribute to the ordinary work of growing up. I’m misty-eyed just typing this.
