Review: “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator” by Roald Dahl

🚀 Zany. Unhinged. Wacky. CGGE is more of a wild ramble and an excuse to let the imagination of Roald Dahl run amuck beyond the confines of Wonka’s factory. IMO it’s not on par with CCF because it lost the plot from the moment the elevator left the Earthly atmosphere.
🚀 Parents — you can give this one a skip. There’s also an odd detour about a little girl who ingests all of her grandma’s medicine cabinet full of laxatives while granny is down at the pub getting obliterated.
🚀 We did appreciate the appearance of the American president. President Gillygrass is bellicose and toddler-like, and surrounded by sycophantic advisors. Meant to be humorous, Gillygrass is oddly prescient of present circs. We felt that Gillygrass’ tough nanny who kept him in line would be super useful in the WH right now.
