Reading Wrap-Up: April 2026

April’s library hold-roulette provided fewer mysteries than usual, and I’m not complaining! Though I was happy to realize there were several books in the HM the Queen Investigates series that I didn’t know about.

My most favorite book BY FAR was Bell’s “American Revolution and the Fate of the World.” It might be my new “Challenger”. IYKYK.

Kid lit picks this month were surprising in the sense that both were by authors we love, and yet didn’t really live up to expectations. I didn’t remember how “Stuart Little” ended; therein was my gripe with an otherwise beautifully written E.B. White classic.

I did a minor in Spanish at the “turn of the century” as the kids take great joy in reminding me. I came across one of my in-class exams analyzing Quiroga short stories, and thought “damn. I couldn’t do that today.” So. What’s a girl to do? Dive into Spanish translations of books I’ve read before to rekindle those neurons! I hope to get back to reading Spanish novels de novo eventually.
